We moved to Clackmannan when my son was starting nursery as we wanted him to grow up in a community where he would live near all his friends. I got involved with the CDT during the pandemic to learn more about the town and help people – we delivered groceries to those who couldn’t get out and soup to those who were isolated. Since then, I’ve been one of Santa’s elves and someone who has risen from the grave at some of our events. I have really enjoyed becoming a part of the community.

I was born and raised in Edinburgh but have lived locally for over 20 years with my wife and daughter. I am a self-employed engineer, heavily involved in playing and promoting traditional music. I have always had an interest in the local community and decided to join the Trust after seeing the improvements they made to the local community and social engagement in the town.

I moved to Clackmannan when my son was a baby, and one of the first things I noticed was how friendly everyone is. I run my own cake business, Thistle Do Icely, and originally got involved with CDT as a stall holder at events. I love living in Clackmannan and enjoy walking and cycling the many paths in the area. I was inspired to get involved with the Trust by all the positive changes they were making to the town. Over the years I have been a face painter, baker, cycle leader and even the Easter Bunny! It’s great to be involved with the Trust, and I get a lot of enjoyment from it.

I am a chartered accountant specialising in Public Finance, beginning my career at Clackmannan District Council. I went on to work for several Scottish councils before retiring a few years ago. An active volunteer, I have been a member of various working groups with the Scottish Government and COSLA. I enjoy playing golf and football, and in recent years I have taken up running, competing in various 5k, 10k and half marathons. I live in Alloa with my wife and have grown up children. I got involved in the Trust because I was keen to use my experience to give something back to the local community.

I have lived in Clackmannan for over 20 years, enjoying its central location and wonderful views. My hobbies include gardening and travel, I used to say hill-walking too but I haven’t “enjoyed” climbing hills for some time. When I retired, I took the opportunity to get more involved in local activities and joined the Trust to support the great work they were doing.

I believe that the arts are an excellent way to build confidence and ensure positive mental well being. I have always been involved with charities, as a Board member and office bearer as well as a volunteer and fundraiser. As an artist with an interest in Community Arts, I have painted large scale murals and delivered art workshops to children and their parents.  I have also made designer clothes for over 40 years. I live in Clackmannan and saw some of the great work CDT are doing, so I asked if I could be involved.

I moved to Clackmannan a number of years ago, and now in the live street where my Papa was born! I got involved with the Trust because I enjoy attending some of the groups they run, meeting new people and helping out where I can. It has also been very positive for my mental health.

I live in Clackmannan and enjoy being out in the fresh air in all weathers, exploring places to visit around Scotland. I am a big fan of our local area and the facilities it has to offer. When not out cycling or hillwalking with the dog, I work with my wife in her furniture restoration business developing my skills in furniture repairs, turning, polishing and finishing.  I also enjoy attempting to play various stringed instruments. In my role as Active Travel Project Officer I want to encourage everyone to get out and about exploring Clackmannan and the wider area, cycling safely with confidence and using bikes for everyday transport.

I completed my undergraduate degree in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University in 2023 and soon began working in Politics. I love music, photography, film and anything creative. I like the outdoors, particularly fishing and hillwalking. Making the move from politics to third-sector work was a big jump but has already proven to be really rewarding. I love working alongside the community and getting to know everyone involved with Clackmannan Development Trust.
